Conclave Ready Couture: What We're Wearing to the Vatican's Hottest Event

Okay - we're here to confess - we're deep in the conclave side of the internet. Both the film Conclave and the very real conclave starting later this week.
And while we've been fans of the movie since it came out last year (so much so that some of the team have been referring to any and all meetings as conclaves: Let's have a conclave...) This IRL conclave and the papacy's pension for fashion - see: Pope Benedict's supposedly "not" Prada loafers...

Something classically Italian like Dolce & Gabbana? Something from the Pope of the Fashion World himself, Karl Lagerfeld? Of course, there's always LaCroix... Below are some of our nominees for Conclave Ready Couture.

A classic, but somehow, this look might be too demure for the Vatican?

Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 Ready to Wear. // Vogue
Perfectly Italian. Traditional with a flare for the dramatic. Pope Benedict would approve.

Linda Evangelista in the Chanel Fall 1992 Show. // Vogue
Flapper meets Cardinal. We love the drama of this look. Imagine the clanging of your beads as you walk up to cast your vote - the scarf trailing behind you. Stun.

Lacroix loves a religious inspiration; known for his chunky gold crosses and baroque prints, he's an obvious choice for such an occasion.

Twenty years later Lacroix ended the show with this stunner. Part bride, part Virgin Mary, part Renaissance painting come to life. This look would make you a shoe in for the next Pope.
(Yes, we know, you technically have to be male 🙄)
