Name: Janet GomezÂ
Where ya from? Laredo, TexasÂ
How long have you been at Happy Isles? A little over 3 years!Â
Most rewarding part of the job? Getting to work with the people I enjoy working with, and helping our clients find their looks. Â
Who are your style icons? Delfina Delettrez, she's just very much her if that makes sense. Her staple blue eyeliner, her unique jewelry and ways of wearing it, she’s just overall so chic. This is probably a very typical answer but the 50’s is one of my favorite eras in terms of fashion and Audrey Hepburn just does it right. Â
TikTok or IG? IG, I’ve never used TikTok and refuse to, it seems to addicting!Â
Favorite movie? I don't know if I have one favorite movie but I think that would fall under movies I don’t get tired of watching. Years ago I accidentally went into the wrong movie at the movie theater and that movie happened to be Shaun of the Dead. Being a young teenage girl, this movie did not seem up my alley, but I was completely wrong and found that I happen to love this style of comedy. It’s its a movie I cannot get tired of!Â
Favorite TV show? I feel like this response changes for me according to the time in my life. There was this one period where I binged watched Mad Men and I couldn't wait to get home from work to watch it and skipped going out many times to do more binging. The show that has a little bit of everything for me is Freaks and Geeks.Â
Favorite book? I’m a sucker for social science, psychology themes and bios. Malcolm Gladwell, can't go wrong with his books, and I really enjoyed Tina Fey's Bossypants. Â
Favorite podcast? So many to choose from so I’ll just name some of my favorites based on topics. Comedy and Life: Blocks with Neal Brennan, Armchair Expert, Bad Dates. “Self Help” and Health: Brene’ Brown Unlocking Us, On Purpose with Jay Shetty, and Huberman Lab.Â
Favorite song right now? Recent songs... anything by GloRilla hah I don't listen to a lot of current music but her music is very entertaining and it pumps me up especially when I’m working out! On another note, I’m really into Johnny Cash’s 2002 cover songs that I just came across recently.
Cats or Dogs? Show us your pet… I have three dogs so I would say there's my answer haha, although there is a cat who comes by our house everyday who we feed and have grown fond of. Â
Cocktail or black tie? Ohh this is a tough one. Being Mexican in our culture we tend to go big so weddings are usually black tie. I’ve been gravitating more towards cocktail attire, maybe it's my way of rebelling a little? Â
Silver or gold? Mixing both. Â
Most worn piece in your closet? Trousers. Prints, tailored, linen, solid, etc.. I have a few rotating in my closet right now. Button down shirts and ballet flats are my other go to’s. Â
Favorite piece in your closet? Another tough one. I love this lace long sleeve 70s dress I purchased from Happy Isles for my engagement photos. I had someone DM me that they wanted to purchase it from me but it's too special. I hope to wear it again one day, maybe for my 10 year anniversary which will take place hopefully in Italy where I feel like that dress belongs.
Favorite vintage designers? This is hard. There are so many designers that I wasn't aware of until I started working at Happy Isles that are so great and love now, but I also feel like I go through phases. At the of moment it's Geoffrey Beene and Christian Lacroix.Â
Favorite contemporary designers? Ohh I’ve been really into what Renaissance Renaissance and Shushu Tong are doing. CO, Kallmeyer for the more minimal looks. Khaite is just great all around.
Favorite outfit you ever wore? I have too many outfits I haven't worn that I love that need their moment! I probably have to say my engagement photo dress from Happy Isles...  Â
Biggest fashion regret? The very low waist jeans.Â
Biggest fashion pet peeve? Being too trendy. Â

Favorite celeb red carpet look? Cate Blanchett always looks stunning, and I feel like the clothing isn't ever overpowering her. I also came across this amazing look of French actress Isabelle Adjani wearing a brocade suit by Galliano for Dior at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival and it's just so great. Â
Favorite liquid treat? I don't do well with caffeine but I actually crave the flavor of coffee so once in a while I will get a decaf latte which still hits the spot. Â
Favorite solid treat? Dark chocolate. My coworkers know I have an addiction! Especially if it's some sort of peanut butter chocolate treat. Â
Your ice-breaker fun fact? I come across as being more reserved and calm but I love and always have loved Rap music which tends to surprise some people, seems to not go hand in hand lol. Â
Describe your perfect date? A nicely planned picnic (with dogs preferable) where we can walk around after enjoying some good food and a good chat. But, if you're looking for something more adventurous, my husband took me rock climbing on one of our earlier dates which was actually terrifying but fun! It was my first time rock climbing outside and most likely my last but it's what made him stand out for me.Â
Are you a black cat or a golden retriever? I asked my husband and he says I’m a black cat lol Â
Are you a Barbie, Bratz, Polly Pocket or American Girl Doll? I grew up playing with Barbies and Polly Pockets, but lets say I’m a Polly Pocket since I’m 5’2 and love interior design and it was all about the house.Â
