Shop like Iris

Iris at home // Vogue // 2015

Okay, so maybe you've got your eye on something from Christie's auction, "Unapologetically Iris: The Collection of Iris Apfel." Us too. We've compiled a list of our favorite things from the auction - and similar pieces just in case you missed out.

And while the glasses and bangles may be what Iris was most known for, we found ourselves fawning over her collection of incredible vintage decor. (Much of which was featured in Iris's 2016 interview with Architectural Digest.) So go live your maximalist fantasy. Go forth and shop like Iris.

A pair of brass hall lights with ceramic parrots

We're really into this pair of parrot lamps. The bright turquoise color reminds us of some of the southwestern-style gems Iris used to sport. We think she'd approve!
We have to say we were overwhelmed with the choice of this one. Beaded fruit is always a favorite of ours, and we can absolutely see this Murano glass set sprinkled on our dining table... But there's something about this trompe l'oeil plate of fruit that speaks to Iris's playful, cheeky style. So she's our winner, baby!
Now, if you browsed the auction, you know Iris loved a bit of dog decor. Sculptures, prints, paintings... But something about the wild look of both of these felt like they were long long soul sisters. The slightly chaotic glaze and swirls of hair. Perfection.

Two Upholstered Footrests

Vintage | Pair Of French Louis Xvi Foot Stools c. early 20th century

While we love the mix-and-match pairing of the footrests in the auction, this pair of oval footstools have unique embroidery (is that a cello on top?) and dusty pink silk color that will make it perfect for tucking someplace unexpected in your home.

Portrait of Mirza, a Maltese with a pink bow in its hair and a bell on its collar

Vintage | Whimsical Painting Of Beloved Dog c. 1960s

You didn't think we would have just one dog item, did you? It was hard to pick amongst the charming animal paintings - but we think this lil' Maltese with her pink bow seems like she'd be a Happy Isles gal. This 1960s portrait of a poodle has a similarly perky appeal. We kind of want them both...
