Fashion Glossary: Moire
Pronounced [more-ray]
Moiré is a textile effect created in the weaving process that creates a rippled water or woodgrain look to the fabric. The word comes from a French word meaning “watered appearance.” It is typically seen on silk taffeta or rayon fabrics.
