Name: Pixie McLaughlin
Where ya from? I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, and have lived in Los Angeles for 8 years now!
How long have you been at Happy Isles? I’ve been at Happy Isles since October of 2022. Can’t believe it’s been 2 years.
Most rewarding part of the job? The most rewarding part of the job is helping people who really feel like there wasn’t anything out there for them. Whether it be because of untraditional taste, size, timeline, etc. The nature of selling vintage gowns has a magical side of kismet that is really special to be a part of. Oh, and trying on the clothes of course.
Who are your style icons? Pop stars will always be part of my style inspiration. 90s Britney, Spice Girls, Rihanna.
TikTok or IG? TikTok feels more authentic to me these days!

Favorite movie? Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. Also, Lilo and Stitch. (duality).
Favorite TV show? It’s the one show that I always come back to no matter how cringey some moments may be- Sex and the City, of course.
Favorite book? The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. This book single handedly got me back into reading this year!
Favorite podcast? The Slumflower Hour by Chidera Eggerue. This one is unapologetically by the gorls for the gorls.
Favorite song right now? In my heart I am a pop star, so I really am living for the pop Renaissance that we are in. I can’t stop won’t stop listening to “One of You Girls” by Troye Sivan. Don’t even get me started on the video!!!
Cats or Dogs? Show us your pet… I consider myself a critter queen and a lover of all furry friends. However, I have 2 rescue pups whom I adore. Mowgli is my first love, a husky border collie mix whom I’ve had since 2018 and Jiji is my little Beverly Hills Chihuahua whom I love to accessorize and take with me everywhere.
Cocktail or black tie? Real deal black tie, I live for the drama!
Silver or gold? Both! I have gold loyalty but I love being able to change up my look constantly.
Most worn piece in your closet? My go to lately have been my little silver Prada nylon ballet flats that I scored at an amazing consignment store in Chicago.
Favorite piece in your closet? My Celine 2003 pink silk trench coat. It gives me all the Carrie Bradshaw feels!
Favorite vintage designers? Richard Tyler and Ralph Lauren always feel special to me.
Favorite contemporary designers? I get so caught up in the world of secondhand and vintage, but Daniel Roseberry’s work has undeniably caught my eye! I’m a fan of Harris Reed as well.
Favorite outfit you ever wore? This is such a tough one for me! I once wore this giant bow dress from Badgley Mischka with some crimson leather opera gloves to a dinner in Paris and to Bar Hemingway for drinks. I love this look so much.
Biggest fashion regret? My biggest fashion regret is whenever I allow worrying about what people think or being ‘too much’ keep me from wearing what I truly want. Los Angeles can be so casual sometimes, but I’ve learned to pave my own path regardless!
Biggest fashion pet peeve? Minimalism with no personality or point of view. I love to see self expression always!
Favorite celeb red carpet look? What immediately comes to mind is Drew Barrymore at the Ever After party in 1998. So romantic and whimsical. This is the aura that was missing at the 2024 Met!
Favorite liquid treat? Iced Matcha Latte from Dulce.
Favorite solid treat? I’m a savory girlie and I’ve never met a cheese/charcuterie board I didn’t like.
Your ice-breaker fun fact? I am the middle child of 5 daughters. Sharing clothes was a must.
Describe your perfect date? I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I like some princess treatment from time to time. I would get dolled up (blowout preferred) and then we would go to dinner somewhere walkable nearby. On the way over, pop into shops, maybe buy myself a little gift and take our time. After dinner and great cocktails, a barefoot walk on the beach in the moonlight (so cheesy, I know).
Are you a black cat or a golden retriever? Black cat. No question!
Are you a Barbie, Bratz, Polly Pocket or American Girl Doll? I’m a Doll through and through, and at times in my life have easily been all of these!
At the moment, I’m in my Bratz era with a splash of Polly Pocket (as an ode to my diva Sabrina, of course).
